Out of all of my passions, this one takes the cake. No pun intended.

I bake for the magical transformation of ingredients, for the smells that lure company to the table, for the artistry and feeling of mastery I get when it goes well, for the ritual (e.g. measuring out the ingredients, kneading dough, the feel of my well worn linen apron) and most of all for the love and care it shows for my friends and family.

Learning tricks like:
A warm oven will help dough to rise.
Patting out dough instead of rolling it will allow the butter in the dough to remain cold and result in a flakier pastry.
Make the experience even more enjoyable.

I believe everyone was born to create something. I’m just glad my area of creation involves butter, sugar, and flour!
